Netherlands New Guinea
Netherlands New Guinea was located on the western half of the island of New Guinea. The region has undergone several transitions in governance and naming over time. It was a Dutch overseas territory and part of the Dutch East Indies until 1949. Following Indonesia's independence, the Netherlands retained control of this western portion of New Guinea until 1962.
Today, this exact territory comprises the Papua region of Indonesia. Hollandia was renamed Jayapura.
